BVCA Invest Series: Supporting the private capital industry across the UK

This week, I had the opportunity to meet with BVCA members in Leeds to discuss our upcoming activities in the region and gain insights into the opportunities, and priorities for the vibrant private capital community in the city and surrounding region. I look forward to returning in April when we will gather a wider group with politicians, policymakers, media and local LPs (more detail follows below).

Engagement with our members throughout the UK’s nations and regions, and ensuring their voices are represented in our political engagement and technical policy work has always been a key BVCA priority. In recent years we have hosted discussions in cities across the UK with Ministers, Mayors and MPs focused on how to drive investment, and what makes specific areas special in terms of innovation and opportunity. We have scaled up our MP Connect programme significantly, that arranges for MPs to visit portfolio companies in their constituencies. That effort has reached a milestone of 100 visits. These visits demonstrate the impact of private capital on MPs’ doorsteps, showcasing innovation, job creation and growth.

This year, the introduction of our Invest Series will see the expansion of our flagship activities in the region, with our longstanding Invest Dinner Series enhanced by the addition of the Invest Forum Series.

Taking place on the same day as each dinner, these half-day forums will provide the BVCA and our community of members with the opportunity to engage with an array of local stakeholders – whether mayors, MPs, media or institutional investors – and continue to demonstrate how our industry is investing in a better economy and a key partner for economic growth. Discussions at each event will focus on how best to further develop investment in the region and explore the local sectors which have successfully grown due to private capital investment.

Following each Forum, the dinners series will allow guests to continue conversations, connect and build their network. The dinners will also feature the Vision Awards 2025, which celebrate the local success stories backed by private equity or venture capital, awarding both the portfolio companies and their backers.

The Invest Series will kick off with our Yorkshire and North-East events in Leeds on 24 April. Activities will follow in Birmingham, Belfast, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh throughout the year. To learn more about these events, find out how to get involved, or book tickets, please get in touch with the BVCA Events team.

Our engagement across the UK is across the year, and we have plans to visit all of the above cities at different times of the year. If you or your colleagues would like us to pay you or your colleagues a visit, please let us know.
