BVCA crowns four standout private capital-backed businesses in Vision 2024 National Awards

Four UK businesses backed by private capital have been crowned the National winners of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association’s (BVCA) Vision Awards for exceptional performance.

Sponsored by Grant Thornton and Santander, the annual awards honour the management teams of companies backed by private equity and venture capital.

Edinburgh-based Quorum Cyber, Wireless CCTV in Rochdale, MetaCompliance from Derry-Londonderry and Vivup, a fully remote business previously based in Farnham, were selected by judges as 2024’s National winners having previously been recognised at the regional level earlier this year.

Judges gave special recognition to businesses who demonstrated success in all themes of growth, competitiveness, innovation and ESG. Winners per investment stage were determined by criteria including scale, maturity, growth profile and nature of investment received.

  • Vivup was recognised in the large investment stage category for its remarkable journey in growing its client base from 700 to over 4,000 from late 2022-2024.
  • MetaCompliance and Wireless CCTV were both awarded in the medium investment stage. MetaCompliance was lauded for its impressive growth, highlighting strategic acquisitions in Denmark and Germany and a client-led response approach that has significantly enhanced their product offerings, while Wireless CCTV impressed judges with its strong customer retention and excellent work on improving diversity metrics.
  • Quorum Cyber received the Vision 2024 National award for the scale-up investment stage. It was recognised for its growth strategy and talent retention amidst a market supply shortage and its strong financial performance.

Omni Partners (backing Vivup), LDC (backing Wireless CCTV), Tenzing (backing MetaCompliance) and Livingbridge (backing Quorum Cyber), all won awards earlier in the year for their outstanding support to investee companies.

Winners were crowned last night at the BVCA’s Gala Dinner taking place in London’s Banking Hall. Hosted by acclaimed West Midlands born actor, screenwriter and author, Meera Syal, the Gala Dinner concluded another successful year celebrating the most innovative businesses that have contributed to their local economies through the support of private capital.

In 2023, 2.2m people were employed by companies backed by private capital across the UK, generating 6% of total UK GDP (£137bn) that year.

Michael Moore, BVCA Chief Executive said:

“These awards celebrate the vision and entrepreneurial drive of businesses across the UK.

“This year’s entries showcased an extraordinary lineup of companies backed by private capital, across the nations and regions of the UK. Vivup, Wireless CCTV, Quorum Cyber, and MetaCompliance exemplify how visionary leadership and innovation can deliver meaningful contributions to our economy.
