Case studies are integral to all aspects of the BVCA’s work in representing the UK’s private equity and venture capital industry.
Case studies showcase the benefits of private capital and how our members support startups, founders and well-established businesses to grow, innovate and flourish.
The BVCA relies on case studies in a range of engagement opportunities with senior politicians, parliamentarians, officials and other external stakeholders, to demonstrate our industry’s contribution to growth, innovation, talent, competitiveness and sustainability across the UK. Case studies – and visits to member-backed firms – bring the impact of the industry to life for key stakeholders and help us to make the case for the value of the industry.
In recent years case studies have proved vital at moments of potential crisis when engaging with policymakers, including during COVID-19. A regular pipeline of fresh case studies is important to the BVCA, and we encourage members to engage through a range of activities listed below. Members can register their interest in the BVCA’s case study initiatives by submitting case studies via our online form.
Connecting portfolio companies with Members of Parliament
The BVCA arranges visits for cross-party MPs with member-backed businesses in their constituencies, including Ministers and Shadow Ministers. The visits demonstrate the value of private capital to Members of Parliament on their doorstep, showcasing innovation, job creation, growth and how private capital is making a positive difference to their constituents.

BVCA Research focuses on many aspects of private capital in the UK: including deal activity, fund and business performance, diversity and inclusion, and how businesses backed by our members are combatting the climate crisis. We aim to provide robust insight to enable a better understanding of the contribution of private capital to the UK. Case studies regularly feature in BVCA reports, to demonstrate the economic, social and public value that our members bring to the UK economy.
